Rift-Sawn North American White Oak
Our most requested hardwood for architectural estate kitchens and floating bathroom vanities. Rift cutting eliminates ray fleck to yield clean, tightly spaced vertical linear grain with unparalleled dimensional stability.
Primary Applications: Kitchen islands, flitch-matched cabinet fronts, bathroom vanities.
Recommended Finishes: Natural ultra-matte conversion varnish, bleached raw-wood sealers, smoked gray tones.
American Black Walnut
Prized for its deep espresso and mocha undertones, Black Walnut provides tactile warmth and quiet luxury. We use select heartwood slabs to ensure rich color uniformity without excessive white sapwood.
Primary Applications: Climate-controlled wine displays, executive library casework, cocktail bars.
Recommended Finishes: Hand-rubbed organic hardwax oils, satin conversion varnish, warm amber luster.
Hard Sugar Maple
Renowned for extreme density and close closed-pore grain structure. We use kiln-dried solid sugar maple exclusively for our traditional dovetailed drawer boxes, pantry pull-outs, and culinary spice inserts.
Primary Applications: Dovetailed drawer boxes, internal pantry casework, butcher block prep tops.
Recommended Finishes: Food-safe mineral oils, catalyzed clear sealers.
Reclaimed Coastal Redwood
Sourced from heritage Northern California barn salvage and vintage wine vats. Exceptional natural tannins make it naturally immune to mildew in high-humidity 55°F wine room environments.
Primary Applications: Subterranean wine cellar racking, rustic-modern architectural paneling.
Recommended Finishes: Raw wire-brushed finish, low-sheen penetrating sealers.
Advanced Finish Chemistry
Every surface is finished inside our dedicated Sonoma spray booth using multi-coat Italian conversion varnishes and low-VOC polyurethane coatings. Formulated to resist red wine spills, boiling water steam, and UV solar yellowing.
